The Orange High School boys’ varsity basketball team defeated West Orange and Millburn to improve to 2-0 on the season.
Senior guard Khalid Muhammad scored 30 points, including making six 3-pointers, and senior forward Adam Maduro added 19 points in the 57-50 win at West Orange last Friday Dec. 16.
Senior forward Louis Williams also scored seven points for the Tornadoes.
Maduro had 19 points; Muhammad had 18 points and senior center Kassan Messiah and Williams each had 11 points in the 65-57 win at Millburn on Tuesday Dec. 20.
Messiah, a key member of last year’s team that won the Super Essex Conference-Liberty Division title, initially decided not to play in order to concentrate on choosing a college in which he wants to continue his football career, said OHS head coach Jacob Martin. Messiah was a standout linebacker for the football team that made the state North Jersey Section 2, Group 2 playoffs and finished 7-3.
