When Immaculate Conception’s Isaiah Harris, a resident of Orange, hit a jump shot from the left baseline at the 5:47 first-quarter mark of IC’s 67-39 win over McNair Academy of Jersey City on Feb. 1 in Montclair, play was immediately stopped.
Harris was awarded the game ball in recognition of the 1,000th point of his career and quickly went to the sidelines to present the prized ball to his parents, who were attending in anticipation of the moment.
“Isaiah has always had such competitive spirit,” said his coach, Dan Grasso. “That’s what has driven him to be such a prolific scorer. And while he has been doing that, he has improved all aspects of his game. He’s a better passer, defender and rebounder.”
Harris finished with 26 points to lead all scorers.
