On Sunday, May 22 the First Unitarian Universalist Church of Essex County, located at 35-47 Cleveland Street in Orange, will host the artists of Arts Unbound in a combination worship service and art exhibit, beginning at 10:30 AM. The public is invited.
The Rev. Darrell Berger’s sermon is titled “Community Creativity” and stresses the role of the arts in community development. Arts Unbound Executive Director Gail Levinson will also take part in worship, sharing the principles and recent developments within her organization.
Following worship, several artists will exhibit their work and meet the public. Located at 544 Freeman St. in Orange, Arts Unbound is dedicated to the artistic achievement of people with disabilities, serving all ages by providing professional instruction, studios and gallery.
The Church has been at the same downtown location since 1893. Rev. Berger says, “The revitalization of Orange is immensely aided by organizations like Arts Unbound. We don’t support them just out of a sense of altruism, either. We know that the stronger and more attractive Orange becomes, the stronger our church will be, and even better able to serve its mission.”
